Two-Day Overnight

Harpers Ferry, WV to Brunswick, MD

Distance: 8.75 miles

Time: Approximately Noon Day 1 to Noon Day 2

Cost: $1,500 for up to 6 people (as low as $250 per person)

Rapids: Class I, II and one Class III

Big river, bigger views, lots of fun boat maneuvering through mini islands and rock outcroppings. Plus this float takes guests through the historic cliffy Harper's Ferry Pass and by the confluence with the Shenandoah then to camp on a series of private islands owned by our service.

If you catch this in the spring it's literally a Jurassic Park of large breeding birds. Multiple breeding pears of eagles, dozens of Geese, a MASSIVE Great Blue Heron Rookery on Islands Ashby Gap Adventures owns, and THREE WILD PAIR OF BREEDING PEREGRINE FALCONS nesting in the cliffs for lucky guests to see.

Outside of spring its still a history and wildlife rich float with a million fun things to do and explore.

Day 1: Launch around noon and float for 3.5 miles, explore, swim, have lunch in solitude and end at your private island campsite. If the days are long enough consider adding:

brewery stop (yes it's on the river)
a short visit in historic Harper's Ferry
birding (pending guide availability)
wild edible foraging (pending guide availability)
fishing/flyfishing

Day Two: Breakfast over campfire. If we're up early enough there's time for a short adventure. But then we load up and finish our trip with a scenic 5 mile float to Brunswick, MD.

NOTE: This stretch of river is very busy on weekends June - August.

Shenandoah River

Berry's Ferry to Lockes Landing

Distance: 9.5 miles

Time: Approximately Noon Day 1 to Noon Day 2

Cost: Full Day: $1,500 for up to 6 people (as low as $250 per person)

Rapids: Class A, I and II

Shenandoah's State Scenic river section flows between the Blue Ridge and farmland. So few houses visible you'll forget you'r within an hour of DC. Have lunch and swim next to a ten foot waterfall with super cold water even in the summer, see the multiple nesting pairs of Great Blue Heron and Bald Eagle, check out the private cave or just lean into your chair or paddle as you make your way down the famous Shenandoah River.

Ashby Gap has every so slightly improved a a camping spot on a little known public island within the Shenandoah. Fish, explore or just sit by the fire and listen to the sound of river riffles while your guide prepares dinner or breakfast over fire.
